The Gauntlet is a very fitting name for round 4 of the Formula D series held in New Jersey. A oval track ran backwards with guard rails that will eat up your car faster than Cerberus with his 3 heads, just finishing a lap around the track can make you feel like Hercules.
So yeah, I totally put off editing and posting this because I’ve been spending time doing house work, attending other events, dying of allergies or installing a roll bar in my damn miata. If you haven’t heard by now, Vaughn had not only won this round of Formula D but also the next round in Miami.
Formula D Long Beach was nothing short of interesting and being the season opener, wasn’t it just fitting. New car builds, exciting drifting, wrecks and unexpected results. Oh and lets not forget SoCal’s awesome weather compared the craziness the east coast has been having. Anyways, this post is about a month late cause of site issues but I still want to share some of my favorite photos from the events. Make sure to check out the gallery at the bottom.

I guess it wouldn’t be a New Jersey event without it being super hot and humid mixed with a little bit of rain. Apparently, FD likes to bring a heatwave with them when they come to the northeast. As everyone tried to stay hydrated and I had my SPF 90 on hand, the banked oval track of Wall Speedway filled with thick smoke. There were a few casualties during the practice session around the first sweeping turn whose wall likes to collect cars like Freddy Krueger collects souls. Keeping things interesting, partway through qualifying runs, rain swept through the track making drivers adjust to the changing conditions of the track. Luckily the rain was just light enough to get through qualifying without delay.
